Hi, I have my PS3 connected HD621. I use the settings written in WIKI:
Choose HDMI Choose Manual Only Check Linear PCM 2 Ch. 44.1 Linear PCM 2 Ch. 88.2 Linear PCM 2 Ch. 48 Linear PCM 2 Ch. 96 Linear PCM 5.1 Ch. 44.1 Linear PCM 5.1 Ch. 88.2 Linear PCM 5.1 Ch. 48 Linear PCM 5.1 Ch. 96
Can someone say me what the PS3 does, for example, when I check DTS? Which does audio signal receive HD621 through PS3? I am confused about this subject and I would understand it. Thank in advance. Umberto
Setup I: DSP7200se, DSP7200HCse, DSP5500, DSW, 808.6, 861v8, G91DH, HD621, Oppo 103D XBOX360, AMX Christie HD6K-M, mySky Setup II: DSP5000, iMac, Cambridge Audio DacMagic

why not just choose auto? I'm on auto and I've not experienced a problem.
if the HD621 receives a DTS or DD signal it should pass it along to the processor untouched. the PS3 is, I think, capable of decoding everything into PCM if required.

Thank David, but I cannot use auto because I get setting for my TV not for Meridian System. I want to understand what the PS3 does exactly when an item is chosen or not chosen. Can someone tell me where to read about this matter? Thank. Umberto

I'm not it's written anywhere (I know of) exactly what ps3 will do because it's fairly complex. You have assume some common sense logic.
Like if you say no to dts and yes to 5.1 lpcm and user chooses the dts sound track watching the movie it will decode dts to lpcm.
Since HD621 will upsample with apodizing only on lpcm this sets the ps3 to only pass lpcm up to the highest speed it can deal with. The only option some folks wish to play with is letting lossy dts/dd pass through HD621 and let g6x/861 decode it. That's your choice.
If you only choose dts and you play lpcm movie ps3 could encode it (I don't know if it actually does) but that's basically how menu works.
Ps3 may also choose a different default sound track depending on the settings.
I don't trust auto on many things. That will query clux or HD621 for what it thinks it can do. And you must set that in the HD621 any way.
