Oppo BDP-93 announced, with "all" the features of the BDP-83, plus Netflix, 3D, better transport and other tweaks. Same price. Available November (in theory).

There is also a reference player coming too, at around 1500, that will be interesting.

It will be interesting to see what "reference" means with regard to digital output rather than analogue.

Are you referring to the "SE" version that has the enhanced Analog abilities or are you talking about a different player again???

Any ideas what might be different about the Reference Player that would be of interest to Digital Outputs only?? Some advanced Video Processing maybe??

On this new BD-93 Players, the fact that you can set the 2nd HDMI to Audio Output only (assume a blank video carrier) may well be a boon for the issues caused by high frequency video that Meridian is always concerned about

He is referring to a further new player after the 93.

Yes. We are working on a higher-end model that will, unlike the BDP-83SE, be built from the ground up for a higher quality analogue audio level of performance among other improvements and upgrades. This product isn't yet scheduled for release, so it will be after the BDP-93 is well on the market.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

M owners should not care for higher quality analogue output i guess.

I still have a new BDP-83 (never used) and now a new one comes along frown

I'll see you your one unused Oppo BDP-83 and raise you two, unopened in their two pack shipping carton! blush I bought a whole bunch of new gear over the course of this Spring and Summer and have yet to have a chance to install it all in it's respective systems.

Happy Trails!

This may be positioned to give the Dune MEDIA player some competition. Interesting.

There's always something new... I think I'll stick with my multi-region 83 for a while, particularly as I don't use its video processing (upscaling) features.
