For me personally, that is at least half of the point of my lack of understanding of this D3200 Introduction

If Meridian were to say "These particular speakers are only aimed at New Systems and Users and do not point at other Design Changes for the future", then I don't think there would be as much to worry about

However, given the way they eliminated SPDIF Outs on the 861v6 and then the G68 and G61, it doesn't bode very well for future iterations of the other DSP's

That, for me at any rate, is the problem, I.e. That this is just the first step on a slippery slope

not necessarily techies

how does this line up with MRC? I am a techie and I don't know how to get the best out of it.

if they want to target affluent non techies then surely the 861v6 is right out? also how much more simple is a setup with a CD player and 2 speakers? yet this model they're killing..

I could accept it if the AC12 cost was significantly less (i.e. sub-100).

Personally, if they were giving the AC12's or AC11 away for FREE with every purchase, I still think that the extra Digital Input and Output stages involved in Cabling thru these is an even bigger issue, as it effects the Audio Presentation every day you use them

All the apparent effort that Meridian put into reducing the Jitter throughout e.g. 861v6 and then they re-introduce back in again thru the use of these Extra Input/Output boxes

Makes Zero sense to me

Agree, but I don't think these new 3200's are meant for custom install wink

I have to accept that Meridian's marketing strategy is their decision, but it scares me. It seems to me that I am not their market and I buy their gear at my risk for present and future support.

I worry about the lifestyle target market. I bought my iPhone when Steve Jobs said that it is the only smart phone that has a manual thinner than the phone. And he was right, I have never had to use the manual, the unit is so intitive. That is my definition of successfully marketing to the lifestyle market segment. Meridian's approach of not providing a manual that is worth a darn doesn't work when you really really need one to set up their gear and this forum has had to fill the void of a lack of a decent manual.

Meridian has also closed the door to buying from any but your local dealer. I can no longer buy from the US as I did in the past and I can not even buy from this US dealer when I am in Hawaii as he is not allowed to sell out of state.

I am addicted to my DSP's but any upstream purchase brings on an anxiety attack.

Presumably there is only one Cat5 input on the back so surely there was room to leave at least one SPDIF input there?

I posted my first hand impressions of the AC200 and DSP3200s over on my board.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Yep,

Why would you want analogue (except for headphones maybe)?

I just read your earlier post.

I don't see anyone with analogue amps ever wishing to purchase an AC200. Would they not simply go for a G01 or G02?

Apologies, it seems I'm missing something from your posts.

Carl

This comment sums them up quite well.

Headphone out on a jack is analog. you may be able to do somthing there. I know its not ideal but there could be options in set up. Chris smile

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
