I would like to add the Sooloos to my system. I currently have the 861v4 and DSP8000s.

Has anyone tested, or can anyone provide comments of the sound quality between:

Option 1: Sooloos direct to DSP8000s
vs
Option 2: Sooloos to 861v6 to DSP8000s.

Thank you!

List your system in your signature for better advice.

If you only have 2 speakers then go direct. If you have 5 or 7, for most folks Trifield wins, Sooloos or no Sooloos.

Also check out +3db tweak thread.

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.

For music I tend to use Stereo rather than Trifield, although perhaps I just haven't set up the Trifield settings correctly. I guess given my set-up, I can't dedicate the speakers solely to the Sooloos, so I've no choice but to go for the 861v6.

Will check out the +3dB thread.. thanks

Hi Trader,

If you're considering a 861v6 and Sooloos upgrade you should also consider the optional ID40 card for the 861v6. This will give you the most optimal sound with this setup.

Actually when I had 8ks and a 5500HC I too found I listened more in DIRECT mode, however once the 7200HC was installed (and the system re-calibrated etc.) that all changed and I reverted back to predominantly listening in Trifield mode.

Your 8ks will either have 2 coax inputs or 1 coax and 1 SpeakerLink.
So it is possible to connect the 861 to one input and another source to the second input. However, with George's "+3db tweak" I think the benefit, if any, is marginal. And again if you do go with an 861v6+ID40+Sooloos this will definitely be the best way to go.

Hope this helps, keep us all posted on how your get on.

Regards,
Carl

I agree with Carl, 861V6 with ID40 will sound better than Control15 direct to your DSP8000.
