As I bought a V6, I sold my v4.
The buyer need symetrical XLR outputs as he have no DSP.
Also I need some cards and he dont want all cards from my v4,
so finally exact these cards have to be installed in the v4:
VS50, IA00, OE13, OE13, EF20, CD20, IE42, IE16,IA45, CO00
As I want to do a good support for the buyer and get the optimal result,
I asked via my M distributor (M isnt talk to customer anymore as they have enough money I guess)
for the optimal placement of the cards.
After two months I got an answer of that difficult question:
"
There is a slight problem with the combination of cards proposed. If an
IA45 is used without OE12, the unit may not work. We discovered that
such a combination is prone to random audio problems.
So, without the IA45, looking at the back-panel, from left to right:
VS50, IA00, OE13, OE13, EF20, CD20, IE42, IE16, with the CO00 in the
extreme right-hand slot next to the power inlet.
With this combination of cards, you should have one of the short
terminator cards fitted on the right hand end of the motherboard - just
to the left of the CO00. There should be no terminator fitted to the
left end of the motherboard.
If you want to try the IA45, it would go to the right of the IE16 card.
However, you will then have to experiment with terminator cards at
either, both or neither end of the motherboard as we do not have
guidelines for this combination. Whatever seems to work without audio
"splats" or other strange noises is the right combination!
"
Its very interesting that
1)A IA45 "may not work" without a OE12
-its very deep knowledge from M about their own products-maybe the development is done somewhere else or just the service do not know anything about this?
2)Then the recommandations come without using the IA45 card,
interesting that M want to have a terminator on the far right side.
There was no info about that for customers at all
3)Install the IA45 card and just guessing where to place ONE or TWO terminators and have only a "seems to work" and "experiment with terminator cards"
give a deep inside where the quality of M is right know...
So my basic question here:
a)Does any v4 analogue uswer have the OE12 installed allready or not ?
b)Does any v4 analogue user have the IA45 without the OE12?
c)Does any v4 analogue user have "..random audio problems" or "splats" or "strange noises" ??
d)Does any v4 analogue user have heard about that before?
Please M technical support,
dont misunderstand me here.
Personally I find that writer have courage and is fair to tell all that truth and facts and gives a warning and recommandation.
This make me hopefull that M finally have the right people sitting on the places, but not the Managers or other incompetent people,
who are not telling or giving the suppurt the correct information or even get them the access to that infos.
We as the HH and the "hardcore fans" of M, have to protect people like this writer from repression of their chiefs.
Sorry to puplic that without asking(but who should I ask without a contact possibility?)
but I mean this discussion have to be started puplic to force M to think what they are doing here.
Maybe Bob when he is reading that and other posts, have still enough influences to stop that before his work is gone soon.
