That's certainly possible. The HD621 was the last Meridian component I bought in Germany last year and I paid a little less (not much) than the price you quoted.

I've completely given up on the german distributor however and moved all my Meridian purchases to the UK. One reason was the price, the other service and knowledge. I'm always for buying locally, but the fact that my local dealer always passed through everything to me and that the german distributor has given me so many wrong informations over the years and talked not nicely about members of this forum made me go away. I've saved over �2k (shipping of both units included) on the trade-in of my 861v4 to 861v6 going through a UK based Meridian dealer. One should also note make the mistake of comparing UK retail prices to german street prices.

I've not read through the whole thread yet, but as far as speakers go, I wouldn't say a 8k is always the best choice. Problem with Meridian I found is, they keep making changes to their speakers and tell no one about it. So one should always compare the latest production runs (in the case of the 8k, early this year).

I found the 8k to go much deeper than the 7.2k, with a much wider soundstage as well. However I find the 7.2k to be more accurate and detailed. I hope that's something that Meridian is gonna fix with a future 8.2k. So choose your poison. smile
