Well worth a listen if you like Jazz and want to learn somthing.

Enjoy, Chris smile

I have recorded it to SD card on DAB....Worth a keep, this.

a CD from last year that sounds fantastic on my 861 :

Akron/Family, Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free

[Linked Image from cache0.bigcartel.com]

An amazing modern americana musical journey ... "River" and "The Alps & Their Orange Evergreen" are highlights ...
If you like this, I have a KCRW radio broadcast that is fantastic as well. I just bought some more recordings from them
on bandcamp.com (and figured out why it wasn't showing up on Sonos, yeah! )

Am yet again struggling to listen to anything else except "Archive" - an English progressive-rock "collective" who are based in Paris & almost totally unheard of in the UK, but who are very popular in mainland Europe, with 7 studio albums to their name if memory serves me correctly.
I really can't wait to get the first of my Meridian gear delivered & dialled-in to hear what they sound like in comparison to on my TMA+B&W set-up !

Their latest release, "Controlling Crowds", a concept double-album, is released worldwide on 20/09/2010.

positive review from AAAmusic :- http://www.aaamusic.co.uk/2010/09/16/archive-controlling-crowds/

negative review from SoundBlab:- http://soundblab.com/content/content/view/id/2492?newrelease=1

I have just aquired a copy of "The secret of Life" by "The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain" from a charity shop, and what a bargain.

This CD is very well recorded and a suitably refreshing listen.
A selection of Covers lovingly re-created for Ukulele in a way unimaginable untill you hear it.

Google it, see what others say. My advice, get a copy now!! Chris smile

I saw them on stage at the Cropredy Festival; two or three ago now.

I loved them, very entertaining.

I just listened to Gavin Bryar's Sinking of the Titanic Live at Bourges 1990 on my (new to me) 861V4 . http://www.gavinbryars.com/work/disc/sinking-titanic-live-bourges-1990

This is what the Meridian reference series was made to play! Seek this out and play it with a full bodied red wine at your side. Amazing stuff. The 861V4 coaxed out (pardon the pun) an amazingly deep and musical mix of performance from this great CD. The low-end was controlled, yet enhancing to the rest of the music, not gimmicky.

The Shiver on BBC Radio 7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vsv9p

I Listened to this on my SB3 using Trifield and found the use of Ambient sound was excellant.
Not really Music, but an interesting show with alot of Music content.
Available through BBC iplayer for next 7 days. I Hope, Restrictions allowing. (9/11/2010)

I would imagine it is also good in Cans if Trifield is not available to you.
2 Channel purists will miss out here.

Enjoy, Chris smile

Does anyone out there have the DVD-A of Giulini's Bruckner with Chicago, and care to comment on it? It's one of the only "great performances" on DVD-A I haven't managed to track down yet. (It's amazing how few actually made it to DVD-A before the wind was taken out of its sales.)

I do not have the Bruckner but I want to note that, although there were few classical DVD-As, many are outstanding. Kempe's Strauss, Previn's Messiaen, etc.
