It's not really a matter of "bias".

I can see your point when it comes to mainstream pop, which is obviously priced to screw over loyal fans and kids who know no better. The pricing may be arguably just as immoral as the illegal copying. But when it comes to classical and even jazz, which work in an entirely different economic system (even from EMI, pressings of 500 for a classical CD are commonplace), every sale counts directly towards whether the artist will ever make another record. This even goes for companies and artists who are major in their field, but who in comparison to popstars are tiny specks. (For example, I happen to know that the Pollini/Abbado Beethoven set on DG, which is at least 15 years old now, has still not yet broken even...)
