If you read BJT datasheets from Toshiba and Motorola, their specification are not really identical. Different caps are not the same in ripple current, ESR..... They sound a little different in real world. er... I don't find noticeable sonic difference between two channels. mm...

ad2,
I accept your concern over having different revisions of boards in you amp, I would not be happy about this also; but I would not ignore 8 years of joy and then start to accuse Meridian of making “bad” kit.
The specification of each individual component is not what makes great HiFi. It's a lot more than just the sum of parts. Meridian knows how to make high-end kit and they do it very well; not perfect, but then who is.
You say yourself that you cannot hear any sonic difference between the two boards, perhaps one can take from this that Meridian build kit that is well designed and that is not critically dependent on any single component.

Hi Nic,
I think he is still a bit "grumpy" on this discovery. Hopfuly once the lid is closed again he will get back to enjoying the music.

Am I missing something here? Surely this is a troll? If I recall correctly you were not so happy when your 568 died. An occasional vent is fine. Bashing is not allowed though. If he believes/believed he was buying brand new, I think he was duped by someone between Meridian and himself. Or he misunderstood what Demo/Remanufactured/B-Stock/Used/OpenBox meant (any of which could have been caused this to legitimately happen).
