I got noticeable sound improvement from the first note.
I did not perceive any harshness at all. The difference between V4 and V6, to me, is that V4 had a warmer less detailed sound than V6. As time goes by V6 gets more warmth, but keeps all the details and natural sounding vocals and instruments. V6 breathes i.e a larger sound stage.

Got a few hundred hours on my v6 and I like it more and more each day. One thing Geir mentions is the larger (wider!) sound stage: I've also noticed far more soundstage outside the main speakers (in 2ch mode) which is most impressive.

Thanks Gear and Simon,
sounds that I have to order definete my v6 now.... One thing I didnt found on all sound-description is the impression of the "speed or liveness or dynamic" and "silentness/majority" of the sound? Hopefully Iam using the correct word here not to be get misunderstood.

Robert:
I had intitially used the word 'harsh' to describe my v6 - which I think, in retrospect, was a poor choice of words. Whether my v6 has 'broken in' or I have simply become used to its particular strengths I cannot say, but what I do experience versus v4 is increased detail, greater dynamics and a wider soundstage. In every way, to my ears, the v6 presents a more accurate portrayal of the music, even if, ultimately, it is less warm and 'euphonic' than the v4. What the reasons are for these differences, who knows. At the end of the day, doesn't really matter whether it is apodizing, better analog output cards or a new kind of hallucinogenic black paint - it sounds great!
I am not entirely sure what you mean about 'silentness/majority', but the v6 certainly does not add any noise or compromise the 'blackness' of the background.
Hope this helps!
Simon

Interesting: Simon is running analogue speakers (afaics) but Geir is running DSPs.
