Fellow Hitchhikers,

I prepared and gave Meridian five pages of simple, direct, factual questions about its new products and potential upgrades on Thursday and went over them line by line on Saturday at my interview. The questions can be downloaded here. I did not ask the questions answered by the photos of the back panels of the new products I took and posted on Thursday, the question about the standby light on the 808.3, or the question regarding height channels on the G68.

I was told on Thursday that the G-series would have apodizing. I was told on Saturday that that the information given to me on Thursday was incorrect and that the G-series would not have apodizing. I was told on Saturday that Meridian had no present intention of providing apodizing updates to existing products. I responded that the news was not going to be well received by Hitchhikers and was given several reasons justifying the decision. I was told on Thursday and again on Saturday that all DVDs players, including the 800, had been discontinued. I stand by my report of the information given to me at my interview with Meridian without exception and without equivocation.

Frank

Thanks Frank for all your work.

Were all your prepared questions answered or is there a list still pending review?

Should we open a new thread for questions to get precise written answers from Bob?

Isn't there still a list of questions from last summer outstanding? Perhaps we should include any of the last unanswered list which remain relevant?

This does not imply a criticism of M for not answering the previous questions. They have evidently been busy at the coalface, and we are of course all very grateful for any extra information we can get from them.

Bob, thanks for taking the time to post clarification and reassurances here....very much appreciated.

And I'm sure I am not the only one who is delighted to hear that both yourself and Allen are fully involved in ongoing projects!

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Cheers

George

Thanks for your communication and assurance Bob/Meridian- and I would urge your company to step-up and improve communications to loyal base in this internet 'instant news' age. Perhaps more coordination is needed internally within smile

Frank-appreciate your efforts.

All,
With many technology advances, you don't expect 100% upgrades ALL the time? There will always be some plateau reached beyond which it does not make sense.

I missed 800v4 on eBay for $2300- sign of PC/technology pricing in consumer electronics/DSP world smile

cheers,
Kishore

Dear Bob,
Thank you for reaching out. I think it was a great idea. Its a shame some of the commentary here became so inflamed. However, one positive to take away from that is you have created something that many people identify with and feel passionate about. I think thats a rare and special accomplishment. Most importantly, I know we all wish you a speedy recovery. Warm wishes for a great 2010.

Best regards,
Jerry

I was certainly glad to read Bob's post this morning and, not wanting to start another or prolong a controvesy, I do feel as though Frank was somehow "thrown under the bus". If M's field people are that poorly informed vs HQ I'm not filled with confidence.

I'd concur. Certainly reassuring to hear from Bob Stuart (who clearly has not lost his sense of humor), but this whole thing does strike me as a bit curious. Frank has always been quite clear in his posts (both here and on his forum), so I do not doubt that which he reported from his conversation with M at CES. Yet, many of those answers are contradicted by Bob's post. Bob has always been careful and considered in his repsonses, but perhaps Ken is more inclined to 'think aloud'. Dunno. Or perhaps there are different opinions within M about direction. Dunno that either.

Regardless, I suppose may of us have been a bit guilty of 'running, screaming for the hills'. I, for one, am happy to wait for subsequent announcements on upgrades.

Thanks Bob for the explanation.

Since Frank was given wrong information for some things, can you perhaps confirm or deny the following:

That is a point which concirns a lot of people i think. At least it concirns me that i cannot re-use current cards..
