I was rereading this sentence because I intended to ask if there was already news regarding firmware updates for the G68, 861v4, DSP7K, etc. when it struck me: Bob means "the current speaker and processor range". This means the G68SL, and not all the older G68 models, the 861v6, and not the v4, and the current DSP speakers (5200, 7200, 8000.2), and not the 7K and 8K. From a business point of view also logical, as I already mentioned several times before. Do you all agree or is there still hope for updates for our beloved M gear?

I'd be thrilled with Trifield Width at this point.

G68SL and 861V6 didn't even exist when Bob made that statement.

I have to admit I never played with that parameter, but it does not feel right having bugs in the firmware ... it might implicate other issues.

I do not remember when Bob made the statement the 1st time (most likely at a HH day?), but the statement is a very general one, I just mentioned the current versions to make my point. I mean by current products the ones they are working (developing) on, which ultimately led to the G68SL and 861v6.

I don't think Bob would do that and we know what he meant. But execution may not be completely under Bob.

We do? I must have missed something. But then again, English is not my native language.

Regarding the problem with Trifield, from what I read in the thread about it M did not acknowledge there is a problem. Might explain why we still haven't seen a fix. Personally I find it strange that when a problem is known for almost 2 years and there still is no fix.

M did acknowledge that Trifield was broken (email from Des Ford to ncpl which he posted on this forum).

Thanks VK, I found ncpl's post of 13/11/09. In august 2008 M proclaimed there was nothing wrong, so it took 15 months to get the problem acknowledged. Since it is, half a year has passed, which is pretty long considered Des stated that it was an easy fix because they just needed to drop in the correct code. This is just plain silly.

Oppo customer service seems to be doing a much better job. I had some problems with homebrew BDs locking up the Oppo, I send them a sample disk on their request and the problem was solved in the next firmware release ...

My hunch is that the Trifield fix and apodizing are in the same build; the build which is currently shipping in the G68SL. So it's a tactical decision not to release the fix in order to maximize upgrading from older models to the newer SL versions with apodizing.

I'm not sure that this is true. I have a new G61SL and can hear no appreciable (if any) difference between max and min settings of width and this is with the +3db (upgrade). It's still not fixed as far as I am concerned.

Perhaps the 861's new architecture means different (and fixed) f/ware whereas the G68SL is the same architecture as previous models so is in same boat w.r.t. waiting for the fix.....

waiting for the fix.....

So to state the obvious ... 861 V6 its fixed & in the G68SL its still broken??
Surely there should be enough resellers that seem to monitor this site to feedback this info to the Mothership?
Is there a list of known issues & bugs ??
