~M~

Totally agree (on all points). I've done all the genuine 2-ch DVDA into a DVDA 2ch folder.

I'm now going to go back and get all the 5.1 and also create some 2-ch versions of those that didn't have one.

That way I have it 'all ways' in due course.

As I'm currently 3.0 in the system, I have not great push to get the 5.1 playing (have to replace the missing rears for that....maybe some on wall DSP's wink ) but the Dune would get me apodizing via the HD621.

However, I would expect M to release the G68 firmware that Bob said would be coming just the week after I buy a HD621 to achieve the same.

Quite honestly, I'd just like to get trifield working properly for now

(HQ that was a subtle hint !!!!)

cheers

Also, DVDAudioExtractor actually finds all tracks on a disc. The other s/w missed a few especially the Dual Discs. I assume they are different somehow in structure.

Does dvdaudioextractor pull the stereo 96/24 files off the DVD-A disc and save them as 96/24 flacs (or wavs)?

It can pull whichever tracks of whatever format you like . Its selectable on the first page ( the format and tracks which interest you ) and then on the second you select the output format ( selectable MP3 , Ogg Vorbis , WAV, FLAC etc )

Just watchout for very short 'Menu' music tracks although you could just delete them later on .

@Nick

If you work quick you could probably get them all done on the 1 month trial wink
Did anyone check to ensure Trifield is working on V6 ?:)

If the HD621 shifts the pre-ring up and out what more can any processor/player/speaker do in the chain in terms of apodizing? It needs to be done once as there will be no more pre-ringing after the ring is handled. This is simple logic. So......

Nothing. M has stated this many times here. Do it once and and early as possible (although why early is still not clear when you start to wonder whether HD621 and 808 and 861 may not all be equal)

Early so jitter may be taken care of earlier. The HD621 should apodize equally with the 861v6 if apodizing is defined as shifting up the pre-ring to inaudible frequencies. So what do you gain by the v6 in an ALL DSP setup? This is the $25+K question.

Dr Bill, you make the assumption that all apodizing is equal. M state that it is not and it is proportional to the 'x factor' used in the algorithms and thus the MIPS required.

evdberg here on HH found similarly with his own prime number multipliers (IIRC).

At HH2, M's head of wizardry said that the most pleasing sound came from the filter using the most MIPS.

I agree with your $25k question though but for a few other reasons.

Nick: re" "x-factor" alright so then only wizardry can explain this, and of course marketing too. Unless of course the greater the MIPS the higher the shift up and out of audible zone?

What are your other reasons re: $25K+ question?

Re: MyMovies for the Dune: the newest version of MyMovies will not generate the correct dune_folder.txt files for your Dune player. The new update will be out in the next few days so if you are having issues (JerryL) they should be resolved shortly.

Thank you Dr. Bill and everyone here for all your help. I am making slow progress with my project because I have other interests that gobble up time but its getting there. I will absolutely use this to play back my DVDAs- does anyone have a way to do this with SACD?

Thanks but thats a bit much for me.

Heres the deal, the Dune seems to have some shortcomings but it does decode the high res audio to PCM. The other boxes seem to be better media servers but they dont decode the high res audio. Does anyone make an external DD TRUHD/ DTS MA converter with HDMI in and out?

Best regards,
Jerry
