A PC or Laptop running Control:PC software can stream from the Sooloos and this can work wirelessly. So the kids can listen to CDs from the Sooloos using their laptops in their bedrooms without affecting the main room operation at all.
This laptop can in turn be controlled from a Control:10, a different PC (running Control:PC) or an iPhone.
So their laptop can be sat on the desk and they can control it from an iTouch wherever they are in the room, CD selection, Rhapsody, volume control, all from the iTouch.

So, if you have a decent sound card, all you need is the proprietry storage?

An equally important question is.................

Which File Version is being Streamed???...............The FLAC Version or the Automatically Created lossy MP3 Version???

Why do I ask????................See the Answer below from the Sooloos FAQ

Wireless networking is not robust enough for reliable operation in a complex environment combining real time, full-quality audio with the level of interface and control offered by Meridian Sooloos. As a result, we don`t support wireless connections between Meridian Sooloos devices.

Hi Ronnie,
did you see my post about the Peter Gabriel 24bit album and the others available on the B&W site ? Appreciate your point however that there is very little choice generally.

I assume this relates to the interface that is shown on the Control:10, not the stream itself. But as soon as anybody has tested this, I'd like to know...

No thanks. I wouldn't want to deal with the extra space required, and I don't watch movies like I listen to music. I'd rather see a dedicated box for that purpose.

Now an iPad controller for the Sooloos with full functionality and that's what we're talking about!

MP3s are what streams, but still works very well in our house. My daughter loves having the whole music collection at her fingertips.

MP3's ? Why when 16/44 FLAC streams perfectly well in 99.9% of scenarios ? Granted it may only be to a casual listening room, but, it's not always the case (FLAC to a headphone rig in an office, for example).

I'm just about to go down this path. Can I ask what you use to do the rips ?

Thanks

Why not use a PS3 with the PS3 server software (maybe tversity can do iso playback though not sure).

So you have a pc in another room, with all your DVD iso's, played thru the ps3.
Just an idea.

Well you need storage and something which can run the Sooloos Core.. So yes, just an ensemble would work because it can run the core, but not just a TwinStore. You would actually need TwinStore and a Control:10, because the Control:10 can run the system core.

Have a look at this thread with Bill's comments about a wireless connection
Although I wouldn't reccommend it, it does appear that he has had success with a wireless setup.
