Nice PerS
Perhaps very bold to ask, but did the dealer do something extra finanacially for the 861 you will trade in ?
Here in NL (like in the UK) the dealer can keep the old unit for re-sale. So extra cards will make it a better sale. For example i can trade my unit in with only a OE12 card, making the unit pretty useless for sale to non Meridian users. Add 2 x OA13, IA45 and ID20 makes it better to sell i think. I would like some additional discount for that.
But perhaps you are not interested in extra discount..

I am not in this ball-park, but wouldn't it be best to sell off extra cards on the private market and then submit the lightest allowable 861 for the trade-in?

I recived my 861V4 i November 09 (with a nothing new in the near future garanti) - So I just had to pay the diff between the old priced 861V4 Standard and the New 861V6 Standard. So i`m very happy with my dealers excelent service when 861V6 was annonced a month later. He just said - will fix this ; ) PerS

wouldn't it be best to sell off extra cards on the private market and then submit the lightest allowable 861 for the trade-in? I wonder if Meridian in the USA has some kind of policy about minimum allowable v4 trade-in? Clearly one should remove all the optional boards for private sale, but I wonder about things like OA13 and OA03?

I am not in this ball-park, but wouldn't it be best to sell off extra cards on the private market and then submit the lightest allowable 861 for the trade-in? What is 'best' is an individual discussion. 1) Strip it to the bones, in an attempt to save a few /$/Euro at the risk of alienating your local dealer. 2) Have a conversation with your local dealer and cut a deal with them. Thus maintaining a good relationship for the next purchase or support question. 3) Cut a deal with your local dealer for a non trade-in price; then see if you can sell it privately. If this is more than the trade-in deal you win a little but have the hassle and time scale of attempting to sell it privately. Regards, Carl

Strip it to the bones, in an attempt to save a few /$/Euro at the risk of alienating your local dealer. That is a good point, I'm not suggesting it would be a nice thing to do - particularly outside the US where dealers will be attempting to resell the units. But, here in the US where the units will apparently be scrapped ..... If I do go with the v6, I will certainly remove any boards that were added post the original purchase. Already sold an IA45 card - although would have done that regardless of the v6 upgrade.

I understood that the trade-in price was a fixed price, and that therefore it would be a complete waste to submit an 861 stuffed with extra cards and still get the fixed price. That's all I meant.
