If we assume that the objective is to get 24 / 96 and standard red book CD 2 channel into a Meridian DSP system what do we use? iTunes doesn't support 24/96 audio. The Songbird player does: http://www.getsongbird.com/My tunes does but i use 24 /88.2 for ease
518, 568.2, D6Ks, D6KC, iMac dual core, iTunes 10.1 (lossless), Apogee Duet, Kuro 500A, Logic Studio, Sound Devices 702.

If you're going to connect a computer to your entertainment system, should you be considering video playback too? If so I don't think Mac mini nor Apple TV provide a full HD solution.
Cheers Tom

iTunes does support both 24/96 and 24/192 for Archiving purposes in Apple Lossless and AIFF Format
The Midi Output can be set to a max of 24/96 only.
Purchase High Res 24/96 2-ch Tracks from HD Tracks or Linn and then convert them to Apple Lossless for Archiving etc. as normal in iTunes You can even convert DTS WAVs into Apple Lossless and get them to play back. Steve.

Cheers Tom AppleTV is only 720p Mac Mini can drive a Apple 30" display From Mac Mini (Intel) Tech spec page "Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on a DVI or VGA display; up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on a dual-link DVI display using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)"

Hi guys - What NAS solution are you using with your iTunes/MacOSX/AppleTV? I am using a Seagte ExtHD attached to my iMac, but I was looking at the HWP Media Vault as an upgrade to what I'm currently using, but I'm not really sure which way to go... Any suggestion for MAC/iTunes compatible NAS solution much appreciated. --- Going through the posts the other option would be to get a MacMini, attach the ext. drive and use it as my media hub - in which case I would not need a NAS, right? Is a NAS the same as an Ext.HD?

No, it is 1080p ... but not 1920x1080 ... it is 1280x1080. Personally I find it work the best at 720p (so at 1280x720).

Apparently according to the Apple user forum 96/24 was disabled in iTunes 9. Just what I have read not tried. My bad: it's to do with transcoding 96/24 material to 48k files that is non functional http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2157676&tstart=150

Has anyone listened with Amarra? It bills itself as an audiophile quality music player for the most discriminating enthusiast. Runs on Mac. http://www.sonicstudio.com/amarra/index.html
