For the Luddites among us, how can you tell that the Sooloos touchscreen is not capacitive?

Capacitive technology is new and the first major products using it were the original iPhone and iPod Touch. Capacitive screen allow you to use more than one touch point simultaneously.
Given how large the Sooloos screen is, I doubt it is capacitive.

Definitely Capacitive, otherwise a Stylus would be needed
Same IPS and Touch Sensitivity etc. as your iPhone / iTouch Screen

My old Samsung Omnia phone certainly didn't have an iPhone-like capacitive screen, but that didn't need a stylus... Edit: There appear to be two types of capacitive screens Second edit: Looks like my old phone used surface capacitance, but the iPhone uses projected capacitance. There's a big difference in interactive experience. I hope Meridian see this as a positive thing for them...... This is the kind of product I would love to sit at home with on my sofa and just search out my music, press, play and enjoy.
I think this would help Meridian sell more Sooloos products if they focus on Storage and a screen-less control/ripping unit. This way consumers can have much more flexibility with their home installations. You could fit a screen in 5 different rooms for a fraction of the cost on just one Control:10 unit.
Personally I don't care about waiting a couple of seconds for the track/album to start playing through an app. The screen is just giving a command to the control anyway. This way we could spend our cash on a product that is 100% focussed on exceeding 808.3 audio quality.

The server is a good machine, but you'd be paying a lot for the Server software that wouldn't be used. I don't agree... In the UK, a standard Mac Mini with 500Gb single drive costs �745. A Mac Mini Server, with 2x500Gb drives costs �816 (with included Snow Leopard Server, if bought separately, costing �408). In my opinion, that's not bad for an additional outlay of �71. http://www.apple.com/server/macosx

With all this discussion on the merits of a Mac Mini alongside iPad, I would point out that the Mac Mini server (with 2x 500Gb drives, 4Gb RAM and 2.53Ghz Intel Core2Duo processor) would make an awesome video/audio server. http://www.apple.com/macmini/server/I just installed the Mac Mini Server and plugged it into the HD621 via HDMI. Fantastic! Apple Support recommended removing Snow Leopard Server and installing Snow Leopard, which I did. Still sorting out the audio. You need to use the Audio/Midi Setup Utility and manually adjust between 44, 48, 96mhz and 16, 20, 24 bit. It doesn't automatically recognize the audio stream. A minor pain. I haven't found much 96/24 material to listen to. HDTracks seems to have the largest selection, but still very limited. FYI - I am utilizing the 2nd 500GB drive as a Time Machine backup.

That's closer than I thought, although apple like to charge the earth for a 1/2TB drive!
I'd still need a drive to get the CD on it though and find external drives cheaper per bit.
