I Repair cars for a living, as such I have no real interest in ownership and badge.
I know how they are made and see how they depreciate. (60% over 3 years typical)

A competant Japanese car will do. As reliable as possible and with a Good heater and Radio.

Cheers Chris smile

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Depreciation isn't such an issue when your most expensive car is a 1991 model of which I think only around 300 were ever registered in the UK smile

Badge is no motive for me though, good engineering is. I guess that is the closest to an OT comment since most 'neighbours' wouldn't have a clue what Meridian is and they would prob be more impressed by Bose .... but those in the know recognise good engineering.

What interests me most about the poll is that the top 5 cars are the high-end expensive prestige cars. When I checked they accounted for nearly half of the ownership. The results may reasonably reliably reflect the socioeconomic distribution of we Hitchhikers.

However, that may be confused by an either or choice of more expensive Meridian or more expensive car. It would be interesting to know how much the cost of cars owned was directly related to the cost of Meridian owned.

I expect Meridian would be very interested in the poll's findings. It may even increase Meridian's interest in HH. There has been an expressed opinion on HH about, what I could call for the sake of brevity for communication here, the "battlers" who can't afford Meridian or only second hand Meridian. That led to opinion that maybe Meridian was not all that interested.

Having stated all that I emphasise it is not meant in any way to be about "them" and "us". This forum is about "us" Meridian owners or those interested in Meridian.
