I think I suggested this before, but Meridian could multiplex the side and rear channel on the surround channel in the HD621. The G6x and 861 could demux the channels again. This would only work for 48kHz sources, but most BD are.

The idea is the HD621 upsamples the front, center and sub channels to 96kHz as usual and muxes the side and rear channels together on the 96kHz surround channel. After demuxing the G6x or 861 could upsample the side and rear channels to 96kHz too. The result is 8 channels 96Khz from 48kHz sources with only 6 channels used between HD621 and G6x/861.
