I don't think so. I imagine that having the ID40 card in the 861 may, in fact, be better as there is one less jitter-prone transfer. I would be surprised if the apodizing in the 861 is inferior to the 808.2's because the 861 is a reference product.

Remember that Sooloos + a pair of DSP speakers is an important sale concept for Meridian; that's why it's important for the 808 to take a Sooloos card.
