Hello,

Is it possible to do a tri-field setup with three dsp3100's using sources alone, without any M controllers?

I'd like to connect my DVD player/satellite receiver to my 'master'speaker and connect the other two speakers using M's #511 s-patch box to create a tri-field system.

Is this possible?

Thanks very much,

flea

Only with a G91/G92, if you count it as a source. Certainly not with regular sources. You need a Meridian component with the Trifield algorithm.

Thank you Mr.V. Does the Trifield algorithm sum the L/R channels for the center speaker, or is it more complicated than that?

How much have you to spend? A question for yourself there.

You could get an Older 5 series Processor, not 94/26 as a start, or somthing newer... But either way, your on a slipery slope. Say good bye to much of your spare cash!! Its worth it. Chris smile

GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Well, that's a good question. I can't just go to my local Meridian dealer and purchase three 3100's and a G92, if that's what you mean.

But there are reduced price demo's to be had, as well as the used route on the internet. I've been looking.

I will say this though, I am hooked on the Trifield idea, even more so now that I know it's not just a fancy term for standard HT LCR, but instead a unique (to my knowledge) algorithm. That is very cool and I'm intrigued by it.

Hi Flea,

Welcome to the forum.

Find a dealer and go listen to a well setup Trifield system (comparing DIRECT with Trifield).
I can assure you will never go back!
Then start saving and trawling eBay etal smile

Regards,
Carl

You could also save quite a bit of $$ by starting with DSP33s instead of 3100s. They are also available much more often on eBay, Audiogon, here etc.

I love my 33s, but as an alternative, for the same price you can get 18-bit DSP5000s.
