Will,
One day I'll invite you round for a beer and a listening session (I'm not too far away, in Ealing). I don't know how they work, but I promise you there is a significant, noticeable difference in the sound which for me (a) represents an improvement (not *all* changes are beneficial) and (b) is worth the money (though many of my purchases have been 2nd hand or in sales, just like my Meridian kit). YMMV.

(I have Russ Andrews reference mains cables going into a Russ Andrews power block. I also have their silver RCA interconnects which I'm not currently using as I went balanced with the 5O2 pre-amp then mostly digital with the 5Six8. Perhaps I should advertise them in the Restaurant, though there would likely not be many takers).

Foo defense shields up...

Rgds,
Duncan

Oh no . . . not again!

Sorry. See earlier post above. Perhaps we can return to this at the end of the season of goodwill.

You better hope that they are working as you will have little chance of getting any spares. Looks like the DIY and garden centres have all conveniently forgotten to order spare lights in the hope that you will buy another set. Not much use if you have already put your lights on the tree and they suddenly stop working. We blew both fuse bulbs (old ones were 'tired') on the set and had to order a new pack from the light manufacturers at great expense but at least we didn't have to dismantle the tree.

I've wired my lights with a Russ Andrews Yellow.

My tree now has wider branches, extended, deeper roots and smoother, yet crisper needles.

For an extended parody of power cables (improved kettle leads make tea taste better etc) see the AVI site. This must surely be the most outspoken position from an actual hi-fi company?

Didn't trading standards investigate russ Andrews. Not sure of the outcome

A bottle of Baby Bio would have been cheaper and surprisingly a couple of drops sprinkled across your hifi also makes a difference.

The Advertising Standards Authority did. See the judgement here:

I'm a little surprised that they claim to reduce RFI by between 300% and 1000%. I'd have thought anything past a 100% reduction would be, umm, unmeasurable! But what do I know?

Browsing their website just now I'm delighted to see they have a new type of mains cable available with some pretty wooden bits attached ("SawyersDisc Technology™"). I haven't heard one, so can't say whether they are better than the ones I already have. Where is the "tongue in cheek" icon?

I promised myself I would only post once in this thread and I've failed. Tut, tut.

Rgds,
Duncan

I have it on good authority that 1000% reductions are quite normal in mains cable science.

On a vaguely scientific note: has anyone actually shown that there is a correlation between increased RFI and reduced sound quality?
