If you were still an SB-boy rather than a Sonos-boy, could you load slimserver easily onto it ? It would probably die under the load. Even boxes like the ReadyNAS have been known to struggle, particularly when it comes to re-indexing your collection. And if you have any 96/24 files which require downsampling via SqueezeCenter's sox application, then a NAS will certainly die Cliff PS: for Squeezecenter, I would look at building something around Intel's new core i3 processors which have been reported to consume <25W in idle mode
Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

most of the mini itx boards avaliable from the likes of www.mini-itx.com will be perfect for running as either a NAS or squeezeserver. i've been thinking about this for a while, they have various processors 500mhz up to a dual core 1.66Ghz atom. I think even the dual atom boards consume <25w running as a complete system with Hdd, wireless ethernet etc. this http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=44 at 160 looks to be a great option. i'm tempted by this to replace my readynas, i really need the dual disc support but find the readynas quite noisy.
