Digital Edition HDMI only, not 4xS/PDIF.

Actually I've tested the stereo jacks and the main speakers of the surround set. Both working. Didn't test rears/center/lfe.

Well of course they would still work.

we would be here until Christmas if I took the time to explain the ordeal the me and all my customers have been thru the past 3 months

the main thing is what paypal has done to me, like a idiot I had all my funds laying in a paypal account, 4 or 5 claims come in totaling over 5000$ and then poof, looked up and still is to this day, can't do a god damn thing this means I can't order new parts(all my suppliers use my business paypal mastercard for payment), can't send refunds, can't accept or charge new orders, can't get to funds to ship with, can't pay bills due from fedex from shipping so that gets locked up and unuseable etc. etc. etc.

I had to borrow/loan 2000$ just to ship 15 orders or so, this is just the start of things

the clock kit that I used for the Oppo went AWOL, which was a one of a kind and was the only thing that worked in the Oppo(the player is very picky about this), my supplier for that sent me a load of them that didn't work, dicked around with them wasting weeks and they never fixed things and screwed me over, so I tried to locate another supplier, found one after 3 weeks, problem is that being my paypal account was locked up I couldn't order them, so same as with shipping I had to borrow/loan more funds, same old same old, these clocks are working perfect now

to continue on, 3 or 4 of Shawns SPDIF boards I had here decided to not work with the mods, so I sent those in to him and had to order a few more, yet again, no paypal account and all my funds tied up in it, so again had to borrow money and send Shawn a money order, all this takes time and addes up, worst news of all, Shawns new shipment of SPDIF boards that came in a few days ago are still not working for me

lots more to go over, but no point in it, added to all this the worst personal problems I have ever had in a single year and I have been in a mess

if you have paypal claims against me and have your stuff please do the right thing and get them taken care of ASAP

I have exactly 7 more orders to ship and a load of refunds to send and no way to get to the money at this moment, so bear with me here if I seem curt or not myself, there is only so much a man can take

thanks to everyone for their patience during this time, I hope you enjoy your players very much

You'd probably have 0 PayPal claims from here if you just took the minute to explain things here. You didn't have to answer every email or explain every case. Just do what you just did, 2 months ago. Or on your web page.

George, I explained it to many many people via email, made no difference to most customers, some where receptive and others weren't and started internet flaming that caused things to crash down so quick that damage control was beyond possible, I tried that with another forum where I did a small Oppo powerbuy and I ended up wasting many hours on posting vs doing work that could be done

I will post again here when all players have been shipped, I have 4 DTE/SPDIF mod players to send out yet and those are waiting on working boards from Shawn(not sure how long that will be) after that the PB is complete and I can post more and get back to normal

Well, I've just paid my customs charges and my order should be delivered by ParcelForce tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update Gary. See, it wasn't so hard!

I've had equipment delivered two years after the original order date due to extended experiences like the one you described. Fortunately the guy is still in business (he makes great stuff!) but it was still pretty awful to hear his about travails. But it was all OK because he always kept us updated.

My player is arriving tomorrow (the works: Meridian DTE and region-free mods on RS-232 version). The analog board is disabled but Gary has promised to swap it out for me at a later date. Keeping my fingers crossed as well!

You didn't do what you just did a couple posts back and that's all you needed to do. You have a fairly trustworthy bunch here but they don't like being kept in the dark after they paid for something. And there were way to many reports of folks kept in the dark. People understand sh%t happens. But you still need to inform them and you don't need to do it one on one. A single post or notice (probably once a week on status) on your web site is all it takes. Some won't like it but most would probably be fine with it.

Unfortunately it only takes one person to complain at PayPal to get your account blocked for at least a month. Just read the info on paypalsucks.com and you'll know what I mean. And yes, what they write there is the truth, I have had the very same problems. Commercially I will never do any business through PayPal anymore, I only use it privately for the occasional eBay purchase.

I agree, depending on those guys on a time line is very risky.

Totally understandable situation Gary got stuck in. But again just informing folks (broadly web or forum) would have helped a bad situation not get totally out of control.

Gary, letting us know the problems you faced would probably have elicited some sympathy; certainly from me. As it was, the longer I went without any indication of what was wrong, the more suspicious I became. I hope that as far as I'm concerned, as of tomorrow, "all's well that ends well".

I'm still one of those people who have not had their order satisfied.

I take some comfort from the fact that others are finally seeing their orders satisfied, yet I know that I had no correspondence from Gary for over two months post the initial acknowledgement of my order, and I've been lied to three times since then about when my unit will be shipped. If I am kept informed about what is truly going on, and a true reflection of how long it is going to be before any problems I would be far more reasonable.

This is no way to run a business, and until Gary appreciates and acts on this I could still not recommend that anyone order from him, even if I do ever receive either my unit or the refund I requested a month ago.

I contrast this to Shawn Fogg's business, where I have never had anything but exemplary communication and service and it's chalk and cheese.
