I'm wondering if there is a way to switch my G91A into standby when my G68 uses a different source like the HD621. So what I'm looking for is a kind of trigger function via Meridian comms?

Thanks.

For something like DVD player, IIRC that there is not much difference between standby and on so it probably won't make any diffence. My G98 drew around 20W irrespective of whether it was on or in standby. For this reason, some HHers used remote switches to power down their equipment when not in use. When I did this, I saved the cost of the switches in the first quarter electricity readings.

If you don't like the blue light shining, you can turn it off with the remote.

However, if the HD621 can't do it already, it would be nice if the HD621 could switch sources, passing audio via HDMI if the rest of the M system was in standby. I would have a need of an HDMI switcher even if I was not using the rest of my system.

You're right. Switching off the display has the same effect.

Next question: can I configure the display of my three M devices differently depending on the chosen source? Would be nice. For example when I use the tuner of my G68 I want to switch off the display of my G91A (which shows the not-used G91A tuner). But I'm pretty sure that's not configurable yet.

BTW and OT, Ian, looking at your signature: you have a nice 5.1 DSP setup but which device is feeding it? Does the F80 output 5.1?

I'm moving house (this Thursday to be exact) and needed to release some equity to keep my purchase options open. So I sold my G68/G98 combo, then, not having a 5.1 system anymore, tried to get rid of my speakers. Only the front 3xdsp33's went, leaving me with 2xM33 and D1500. I experimented a bit with Squeezebox into 203DAC + M33's for stereo then, spotted a pair of s/h 5200's. When I went to collect, I got tempted by the 5200HC too wink So I am back at square one, but without a processor. Looking either for a G61r + HD621 for a move to Freesat/Bluray if funds permit or, just staying stereo with 5200's and buying Sonos to replace Squeezebox. I won't really know what room I have until I settle in so keeping options open. Plus money is a juggling act between keeping the WAF, home improvements and a luxury hifi that gets little use in surround mode. Suspect 2xDSP5200's will be the compromise.

You did ask!

"Luxury hifi"? In what way is it a luxury? ;-)
