It has finally arrivedand after a couple of hours of cable management and config fettling its in and working. Generally I'm delighted. The build quality is something to behold as was the weight of the G57 (around 20kgs)! But of course this was never going to be a straight forward plug and play so I do have a couple of 'questions' for the more informed among you.

1. The system is run in stereo from the analogue outs (left and right) on the G91a. When in CD playback the separation, clarity, transparency etc etc is very very good.......however. The vocal is quite a bit more forward in the mix than I'm used to and the bass guitar frequencies (something I really do listen to) seems 10 to 20% further back in the mix than I would like. There's still plenty of thump in the kick drum but there seems to be a lack of punch in the bass guitar. Can this be 'tailored' to my preference without resorting to adding a sub? I do have a config disc but I'm not the most computer literate so it might as well be in Martian (and I don't speak Martian).

2. I have an InFocus 5700 projector which on my previous setup was displaying 720p but will now only display 576p (scratches head). That is connected via dvi plus HDMI addaptor (as it was before) into the HDMI on the G91a. At the moment the tv is connected via component and is a very good image even though its 'only' at 1360 x 1080 (I think).

As I say I'm generally very pleased but if I can sort these 2 issues out I will be over the moon.

The SP5700 is a 576 line pojector (the 7200 was a 720line projector). The 5700 will however down sample 720p and 1080i to 576 output.

Regarding the bass, Meridian Amplifiers (IME) are very neutral and it is possible that you just got acustomed to the presentation of your previous system. I would suggest that you just left the system alone for a couple of weeks, play some tunes, enjoy it, and then if you still fell that it is lacking, you can start addressing particular areas (I would look at speaker positioning first, as this is likely to have an impact and is free to do!)
