I have an F80 and it's been a while since I've checked but is there a "must have" firmware update for this?
If so what improvements/fixes does it bring and does it still have to be done via cable at a dealers?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I think if you get the i80 dock you may need an upgrade to unlock the functionality. Mine is off at the Mothership for repair (It Stopped) I have asked for the upgrade at the same time. Cheers, Chris

If you're thinking about adding an i80 dock, get the firmware updated. Apart from full functionality which Chris mentions above, the input sensitivity appears to be reduced to prevent overloading. I used my iPod with an i80 for a week or so with older firmware, and it sounded awful, distorting at almost every peak in the signal. The new firmware resolves that completely.
Cheers
George

If the unit is older than s/n 1004000 (or 10004000; forget which)it will need to be seen to if you want to remotely control the iPod/i80 combo.

This thread remind me that I need to get my F80 off for a service. Fault with a dead row of pixels on the display.

Gosh, that's a lot of F80 support M is having to deal with. I've already had one set of buttons replaced and my telescopic aerial broke (under warranty) when screwing it in the other day.

And my aerial socket broke and is currently being repaired. I shall try and rely on the internal aerials in future to avoid problems. The socket seems inherently vulnerable

Did you have the aerial or the socket replaced? Presumably it did not have to be sent back for a new aerial?

What is the issue with the aerial sockets?
I've never been convinced that my aerial has worked perfectly, to the extent that I was sent a replacement pigtail aerial which was better but not good enough for use so I have to use the telescopic. I have always suspected that the connection in the socket was not as good as it could have been.
If its going to have to go back for the display to be checked, I may ask them to check the aerial socket too.
