I've been told the unit was manufactured in Jan 2007 and has had limited use. The asking price is 10,000.

Is this reasonable price? On inspection they are without blemish.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks and regards.

Are they the claret ones? Colour has an impact on price. I would pay that if they were black.

I reckon 10,000 is cheap whatever the colour! Can't cost that much relatively speaking for a competent french polisher to convert to piano black! I have to say that I would have purchased them had I got the room for them....just too big!

I love the claret finish...

I don't have the capital, but that is a very good price, regardless of which paint color is used.

Yes, they are the ones from D&T Electronics. Encouraging to hear the price represents value.

Thanks and regards.

Should also say that there potentially another good deal out there on Audigon with some DSP7200's.

Previously the dealer was prepared to facilitate via Meridian US the UK power conversion for a pair of DSP7000 speakers at cost price (approx $1500). I haven't asked but presume he would be willing to do the same for these.

All things being equal not sure which represents best value. The DSP8000's @ 10,000 or new DSP7200's at approx $20,000 give or take. I've always dreamed 8000`s.

Thanks.

You're not going to get a pair of newish 8ks for much less... And with the 8ks shortly to receive apodizing upgrades, I reckon your only questions are: (1) Will the colour work, and (2) can you accomodate those side firing woofers? If the answer to both is yes, I don't think you need to think about it any more: DSP7200s at $20k are more than 10k.

Please buy them so I can't - I need a new motorbike!

BTW, when they were offered on eBay the advert mentioned (and showed) some scuff marking but you say they are mint.

Addendum - I see they just went back up on eBay.

As a (relatively) recent buyer of 2nd hand 8000s, I doubt very much indeed that you would be disappointed at 10k - let's face it, the base colour cost (pre .2 upgrade) was 28,250 for some while. That's about 35% of RRP. IMHO, a non-standard colour (if you like it and can live with it) for these is as about future re-salability as it is purchase price (it's a bit like non-red Ferarris). However, you I think would be getting, say a bit of what a black pair would go for at that age.

BTW, once heard, even 7200's won't be the same!

Andy
