[quote=Custom HT]anyone want the player I listed above? ready to go

Hi Tony,
am I correct to assume that you have NOT done any business with Gary, but rather derive your opinion from other people's postings? If this is the case I would kindly ask you to stop for a moment and put yourself into the shoes of somebody who is trying to keep his business running while going through a total mess. Ask yourself:
- How will you meet your financial obligations when PayPal freezes your account?
- How do you want to get new business if your website is down as a consequence of the PayPal freeze?
Now imagine yourself being in that situation trying to resolve those problems and also keep your mod operation running. Got the feeling? Good!
So how does it feel if someone keeps pissing on your reputation with nothing better in hand than hearsay? You wouldn't want a jury in court to rule against you on such a basis, would you? So maybe next time it would be wise to think twice before bashing others and potentially ruining their business without first hand evidence, wouldn't it?
Just to let you know: I also read the posts here and elsewhere on the web, but I came to the conclusion that Gary finally gave a satisfying explanation for the delays. IMHO everybody is free to come to the same or a different conclusion, but please tell us here about YOUR PERSONAL experiences and don't cook up other people's old stuff.
My various communications with Gary have been good and very fast. I actually ordered a player about a week ago. I'll be more than happy to post my experiences with Gary and the player (Ultimate Analog).
Cheers,

Interesting first post Thomas. Thank you for your opinion. I am glad that heresay alone is not enough to put you off dealing with Gary however due to circumstances I have to be very careful how and, as a consequence, with whom I do business with.
As stated in the other thread I have not purchased anything from Gary and unlike yourself will never do so. It is obvious that we have formed different conclusions about Gary and what has happened and that is perfectly fine. However I find it hard to reconcile the explanation with the events.
In answer to your questions if Paypal freezes my account I don't see that I will have any problems. I would settle supplier invoices through other means such as working capital, credit cards, short term business loans or indeed utilise one of many other methods. In fact in most circumstances I would not need to use any of these methods as payment is usually due on invoice AFTER the goods have been delivered. Most businesses rely on trust to settle within agreed terms which over in the UK is generally 30 days or even longer. Indeed I have many trade accounts and despite having no history with any of the suppliers have always been given 30 day terms. After a prolonged history with these suppliers I can imagine that I can re-negotiate longer terms. I have only ever witnessed advanced payment for business accounts if the supplier believes that payment will be an issue which is usually either through previous payment problems or doubts over the financial security of the purchasing company. It is true that I can't speak for Gary but I assume that he has trade accounts with his suppliers and isn't just paying as every other consumer would. In any case, as stated by Gary, Paypal didn't just freeze on a whim or by accident but due to complaints over his transactions. I am afraid that Gary got himself into that one and see no reason to blame Paypal at all.
As for getting new business without a website. Well again due to payments on account the website shouldn't just vanish overnight. Even if it did I would hope to gain business through word of mouth (Which isn't helping at the moment) and perhaps by posting on internet forums. This latter option is something that Gary has already shown himself to be adept at. Then again I don't think that I would be trying to canvass for new business when I was not able to satisfy the business that I already have.
I have put myself in Garys' place, as you have suggested, and would suggest that as a result I have formed a rather different opinion than yourself.
I do not KEEP pissing on Garys' reputation and would politely ask you to refrain from falsely representing me. I have only ever posted three times on this subject. One each in the two threads on this forum and this post here. With regards to your legal comparison I would suggest that false representation would also not go down to well in a court of law and again politely request that you youself think twice before 'bashing' me.
I have no desire to ruins Garys' business and would suggest that if it can be ruined by a single comment from an unknown like me that there is not much to ruin in the first place. Indeed the only person who seems to be ruining Garys' business is Gary himself.
I question your statement about this being old stuff. As the thread here and on other forums show this is very much recent stuff. It is interesting though that you imply that similar things may have happened before....... In any case I have not 'cooked' up anything, the evidence is on public forums, and I wouild appreciate it if in future you could refrain from such false accusations given the strong body of evidence that supports me.
As regards to my personal experiences with Gary, aside from the threads here and recent similar threads on other forums, I have been following Garys posts on AVSForums for a number of years. Especially in regards to SDI where Gary has consistently belittled other members who question the benefits of SDI over other transmission methods and have questioned the claims that Gary has made. Claims that have not, from what I can see, been substanciated and often result in more belittling. Kind of reminds me of similar claims over jitter in the Oppo where Gary failed to provide evidence of the reduction achieved by his mods.
I have previously sent Gary an email (Several years ago) regarding purchasing an SDI mod which went unanswered. Posted a question to him in a thread on AVSForums that also went unanswered and when I asked on here about HD-SDI for a VP50Pro and about an SDI mod for a G98 Gary only answered the first part about VP50Pro and ignored/neglected the part about the G98.
So there you go that is my personal experience. Brief but unsatisfying from my part. I am glad that your experience has been better than mine or many others. Sadly I hope to never have any further experience with either Gary or his mods.
Sorry to be so verbose but I don't appreciate the hostile tone and accusations that my comments have given way to. I realise that this is your first post and that you may be inexperienced with posting so I would like to offer some friendly advice. Politeness works wonders.
It is my opinion that Gary is a genuine person and a nice guy who has tried to turn a fun hobby into a business. Sadly the realities of running a business seem to require abilites that he just does not have - despite best intentions. I suspect that the skills required and problems faced in running a commercially successful business are unfortunately greater than those required doing mods for friends and family at home.
In any case I am dissappointed that I will not be conducting any business with Gary and wish both him and yourself all the best with future business transactions. Since I am not personally affected by any of these events I consider this my last post on the subject (A claim that Gary has made on numerous occasions, and since broken, on the subject of SDI).
Looks like it is a European player and multi-region mod from Henry along with an HD621 for me.
Cheers,
Tony.
