Thanks guys. Two weeks sounds about right. What is really annoying is that I ordered *unmodified* units, expecting them to be despatched promptly!

Edit: I remember someone mentioning a few weeks back that Gary's mother was very ill. I hope everything works out well for them, but if events took a turn for the worse, that would certainly explain why he's vanished for now. In the circumstances it may well be easier to let Paypal handle all his refunds than trying to get his own head around the situation. I have been contemplating just this for the last couple months (it's been over four months for me now) and for this reason alone I have tried to be firm but not outright angry in my (rather 1-way) communications with Gary. But seeing as it has been so long I finally placed a PayPal claim today. My understanding after speaking with PayPal is that despite the 45-day deadline PayPal still looks at aged claims if there are other people filing as well.

It's been four weeks since Gary's last post here. If I had an unfilled order, I'd file a claim with PayPal or with my credit card company sooner rather than later. If the situation clears up, you can always reorder if you are so inclined.

I quite agree Frank...I don't think that anyone should delay and miss their claim window, I'm just wondering what's behind the (unsatisfactory) situation.
Cheers

For those still with an outstanding order, I had an email response from Gary today:
"we had a shipment of clock modules come in that were bad and we have been trying for weeks to get them in from another source, we got more in this past tuesday and everything is being completed, your order will be sent early next week"

How many folks here are getting units with "upgraded" clocks?

I'm getting the Meridian Digital Transport Edition, so mine would include the upgraded clock as part of the DTE version.

Doesn't explain the delay on my unmodified Oppo and Edge.

Even after giving him an extra week grace period Gary has not contacted me so I have now given up on him, cancelled the order and filed a Paypal claim today for a full refund.

It's sounds more like he's in over his head and doesn't know how to handle customers than being malicious. Maybe he'll learn, but probably not here.

George, I agree with your assessment about his capabilities and even intentions. I shouldn't pile on, but think this forum has been more than fair in attempts to protect his reputation. And that reflects well on the integrity of the HHer community and the tone you set, for sure. Many have tried to resolve matters with him using PMs or Emails. My problems were first handled by PM, then openly on this forum. I needed the public view to prompt a response. Without Shawn's generous offer of trouble shooting and repair, I doubt I would have a working Oppo. Gary promised he would cover my out of pocket extra shipping costs which were $100 plus. He has not answered a single email or PM about this. I can write off the money, but I don't like to think what would happen if any of us need the warranty repair that he also promised. Enough said!
