Sam - interesting that you are seeing Mov6 rather than Mus6, but I suppose the 568.2MM may be different to the G68 in terms of what it defaults to for a non-SmartLink multi-channel digital input.

However, the fact that you are seeing Mov6 at all suggests that the problem is *not* with the Edge-to-513-to-568 link. My guess would that you have a player configuration issue, an HDMI problem, or a problem inside the Edge. Unfortunately, I can't say which.

That is very strange, because I wouldn't have thought it was a cable issue (it could be the 568 got itself confused). I still think the problem is in the player, Edge or DVI Detective (or a combination of two or more). However, a hard power cycle of the 568 might not go amiss.

Samuel,

As an interested party, I'm keeping my eye on your developments. Can you just confirm that you used the Mconfig program to add the Edge as a source, and as a matter of interest, what name did you give it?;

Adding the Source with MConfig

Add a Generic DVD Player (this will be your modified BD Player or Edge).
Choose OK (don't worry that it does not have the right connections)
Choose No (Advanced)
Choose Next (e.g. Leave it as Connect to G68ADV)
Choose New button next to the From:
Change Type to Multichannel Digital
Change the From Dropdown Box to Multichannel Digital
Optionally change the To dropdown to MD1, MD2 etc.
Choose Connect Button
Choose Finish

Cheers
Mike

Mike,

I have not used the Mconfig to add the edge as a source. All I have done is basically set the DVD to multichannel for its audio input.

I just set the CD to multichannel also and set movie2 and music2 to Trifield and set music6 and movie6 to cinema. Now I have the 6 channels flowing through the 568.

I think this is mostly operator error on my part.

So is it standard procedure to add the edge as a source through the mconfig?
Please give me instructions with specificity.
Do I use the add productin the Meridian legacy configuration program?

Please Advise

Samuel

Samuel,

I think this is your problem, you need to assign the MHR input to the Edge. I'm not familiar with the 568.2 Mconfig but I' sure someone with more expertise will be along shortly to talk you through it.

Cheers
Mike

Hi Sam,

What channels are you receiving? In your post to me you said only on the center and sub, in other posts you are saying L/R and sub.

If you are getting only center + sub I think you have a wiring problem. EDID problems wouldn't cause a source to only output those channels.

If it is L/R and sub are you sure it isn't just L/R and the sub coming from bass management in the Meridian?

Something to try....

Forget the MHR input for the moment.

1)Take the L/R SPDIF outputs on the Edge and plug it in to the Meridian configured for just a typical 2 channel input. Do you get sound?

2)Take the C/Sub output on the Edge and plug it in to the Meridian configured for just a typical 2 channel input. Do you get sound?

3)Take the L/R SIDE output on the Edge and plug it in to the Meridian configured for just a typical 2 channel input. Do you get sound?

4)Take the L/R REAR output on the Edge and plug it in to the Meridian configured for just a typical 2 channel input. Do you get sound?

If you are getting sound on multiple outputs (probably 1,2,3) the problem isn't the Edge.

Shawn

That's a good idea shawn.

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.

one thing is when you tell us all you get is l/r + sub, do you have voices/dialog from Black Hawk Down in what you hear? meaning are you hearing the center channel mixed in?

Sam, try what Mike says and then test what Shawn says if that doesn't work

I can assure you that there is no problem in the Edge or DVI detective, otherwise I wouldn't have shipped grin

after you get the audio flowing I will advise some video setup for you to improve things on that front

thanks

Hi Shawn,

followed your instructions and received sound from the outputs straight from the edge to the 568.

based on this the problem is not the edge

right now I am receiving sound from all channels.

I have never done this before, so I saw the instructions for adding a source, but I need specific instructions on where to start.

thanx

Samuel

"followed your instructions and received sound from the outputs straight from the edge to the 568."

That is a good test to narrow down where a problem is. Getting sound on all the outputs individually means the source, Edge and EDID are fine and the wiring or config for the MHR input isn't proper. If you were only getting sound on one of the outputs you would likely be having an Edge/EDID issue or a setup problem in the player itself.

"right now I am receiving sound from all channels."

That is a good thing!

Samuel,

Have you ever used the Mconfig program before? How did you set speaker distances, levels and bass management?

Cheers
Mike
