Tim,

Read my post, 3rd one down back on page 23 of this thread.

https://www.meridianunplugged.com/u...b=showflat&Number=90461&fpart=23

Everything is working fine except for having to press a source button several times on the remote to get the HD621 to switch HDMI inputs.

Don't really know what the cause of that indiosyncrasy is ?

Cheers,

Steve

Yes - no problems other than having to adjust lip-sync

Joel,

I know I should not have to keep hitting the same source button on the remote to get the HD621 to switch HDMI inputs but the reality is that I often do !

My Mconfig settings are fine as far as I know but I think I have a intermittent comms problem because I also have the same problem that Colin Triggs has recently posted.

Often when I shut down my system the speakers stay on even though the 800 and 861 switch off. My solution is to switch the system back on then turn it off again but make a concerted effort to point the remote at the 861, which is my controller.

George Mills makes mention that the IR receivers on components and speakers don't matter and only the Controller's IR receiver counts but ????

I think I will unplug and plug back in all of my comms leads to see if this improves things unless anyone else has a suggestion.

Cheers,

Steve

I had the same problem. It turned out it was the HDMI cable. First tried Audioquest cable that works with my other equipment - got no picture, only sound. Then tried Supra cable that also works with my other equipment - got intermittent picture. Last I tried a new cable from Real - got perfect picture and sound!

Same type of question here: Can one connect the three Smartlink connections (triple coax provided in the box) between the HD621 (labeled 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8) with the MD1 section of the G68 (labeled L/R, C/LFE, SURR) without connecting a computer and running the config program? The default channel “matches” are apparently not described in the manual.

Frank, I think I'd adopt a policy of completely ignoring V from now on if I were you. It's taken me a while to realise that too.

Cheers

if anyone has any advice i'd love nothing more than to be WRONG and look like an IDIOT but i have a feeling this won't be the case.
In case we forget, this started because he was looking for help in sorting out a problem.

Some people were kind enough to offer suggestions and eventually he ends up dismissing that same Help as "Cable Nonsense"

Unreal!!!

It might be funny if it wasn't so unrelenting. Two posts today and Two Insults directed at other posters, who've only been trying to help him in the past

If I see cables brought up again from V the post will be deleted.

I found this article very interesting. In a nutshell, the jacket on the cable affects propagation speed, even though the current obviously travels through the wire and not the jacket. The explanation offered is that the magnetic field associated with the current is affected by the material around the cable. This is just me guessing, but I would suppose that sort of an effect could have consequences on jitter for example.
