I have used the Gryphon Exorcist successfully in my previous setup with a Yamaha processor for reducing magnetic built-up of the system. Can I use it with a Meridian G68 XXV as well?

I'm not sure where "magnetic build up" would come from with the G68. Aluminium case; SMPS; multilayer boards with earth planes ...

.. or even if it did, would it have any significant deleterious effects?

Perhaps a welcome and gentle intro to our new member rogerwalk....

This is a very polite forum but it does tend to be, lets say, "dismissive" of technologies and solutions which do not have clear grounding in basic or accepted science.

I suggest a quick search on cable variations to get a feel of what I mean by "dismissive".

Let us see how far the science goes here(of course limited to my humble understanding):

The entire signal path from preamp to speakers contain conductive parts with nickel or steel which can be magnetized by DC current. Many electronic have DC leakage or are subjected to DC pulses when amps or preamps are switched on. When an audio signal passes through a magnetic field, it is prone to magnetically induced distortion (MID). So reducing/eliminating those magnetic 'buildups' is theoretically improving the sound quality of a system. Now, how the Gryphon 'Exorcist' can do this (one can hear a 1kHz tone that fades after approx. 30s) is beyond my understanding. So this may be the part where the grounding in basic or accepted science is questionable.

My original question, however, was whether there is any experience/knowledge that blasting the Exorcist's 'signal' through a Meridian G68 does/does not do any damage to its sensitive circuitry. So far this question has not been addressed by this forum.

Reading their literature online, it would seem that no harm can be done.

However, if this is real science it makes you wonder why they implemented a device that costs $230 to do this when they could have just made a CD you play back. If the science is real, the Stereophile/Avia/DVDE test tones will work just as well. At least they aren't trying to sell you Nordost Valhalla based Meridian Comms cables wink

I can attest to that the Gryphon Exorcist does no harm to the G68 nor the speakers. It's just a 1KHz sound signal that you can sample with a soundcard if you want and play when you feel the magnetic buildup increasing to catastrophic levels laugh

Here in Sweden it costed about 70$ 10 years ago and I can't figure out how they still can sell this instead of a CD with a sampled signal. It's built like a TANK though and looks pretty..

I recently used it's RCA sockets when I needed to loosen the enclosed Meridian coax cables male connectors (they grip like they want to kill the HD621/G68 female connectors) wink
