These puppies went for under 6 grand and were apparently brand new in boxes with full warranty. Is this for real, and if so, how can something so expensive sell for 20 cents on the dollar NEW!

Watched it too. Asked seller for serial #s but no reply. He had eBay feedback but not for quite a while. What do you think?

I also asked for the serial number but the only thing he wrote back was that they were new with warranties and he wanted $6900. I just don't know.
What are the real risks with paypal? Can you get buyer protection insurance that will really protect you?

I saw those too and I could have locally picked up. I didn't think they were new though.
Little while later 3 18bit beaten up 6000's went for the same price. People have no idea about prices.

The pictures used had been used before. http://cybersantamaria.com/It looked a bit fishy to me.

The DSP7000's were a con. The same pictures were on sale as if they were in Europe so after a few crap responses from the guy I reported it and a few hours later received an email from eBay saying that the finished auction was cancelled as the person who owned the account was not in control of it! At least they acted this time.
The same thing happened to me a few months ago with a DSP7200 center where the guy wanted me to pay first and then he would send them....honest! I reported him and they found that one was a con too. Shame as at �1700 it would have been an amazing deal.

So, if you were the high bidder and paid by paypal, would you be protected if 1) nothing is ever sent to you or 2) you receive a box of garbage?
Will paypal protect you 100%?

Nothing is 100% but probably. If the "seller" account is below 100 Pt's rating money is not transferred until Proof of Delivery and/or Positive rating is given by buyer.
If the Seller is over 100 pt's and it's a stolen account he might receive immediate payment and immediately transfer that money to another bank (if that theif also has access to the paypal account). But most banks don't clear anything immediately.
