Any one use search by year? If the entire album has songs recorded in one year it works fine but compilations with songs from multiple years does not. It seems to only show up in the dominant year(most songs from one year). The other years will be on the list but when you click on the year it is empty. I adjusted metadata for each file separately since dBpoweramp sets the year for the entire album not each song.

You may find more help on the Squeezebox forums, these kind of faults drive me insane and put me off the whole server thing. Cheers, Chris

All comes down to quality of metadata. For many years I was using iTunes rip in lossless and had to live with the limitations of Gracenote's metadata... Few months back, in anticipation of upcoming M's Sooloos (I have 2 of the Control 10s hopefully coming next week) I collated all my CDs and couriered them to Palo Alto's Ready to Play. I ordered 2 versions: FLAC and Apple Lossless. I got them back on a 2TB Mirror Raided NAS, imported AL version into my iTunes, and populated the Mac Pro server + my Apple TVs. Not only all rips are now safe - no cracks, no extrapolations, etc, but most importantly metadata is correct - all years are spot on in compilations, even my most obscure internal EPKs from eighties and nineties are correctly tagged. It would be the least that one can expect, but my music collection is comprising (apart of mainstream)... "obscure" music from UK, Scandinavia, commie E. Europe as well as Middle East and Asia proper. Guys from Ready To Play have really done a stellar job! Highly recommended. Now I am awaiting proper Sooloos interface's "swim" and "focus on" function goodies. (BTW, I will be using a Kramer box to get SPDIF to HDMI converter, to use HD621. I just can't get over the improved sound of the system going through "one legged filters"...

I agree ask on slimdevices forum, you'll get a lot of help there.

Seems this is a known bug based on what I read in the squeezecenter threads! Not sure it will ever get fixed since this was posted a long time ago. Well at least when I play back a song it will list the correct year for the song. Search or playback via year will not work with compilation CD's.

After you make the change try dumping the cache with squeezecenter shutdown. (it magically fixes some things). It will automatically rescan the library when you restart. Since there is only one place a date is stored I don't understand how it could not work.

Hi George,
I already tried that! Still the same results. There is a bug filed for this in Squeezecenter. I think it is #5211 if my memory is correct.
Not a big deal. I can still get to all the tracks via artist and album search.
