I had told the forum in another post that I was going to work on developing more devices for you guys with 4x SPDIF PCM outputs

what if I was to say that I could possibly offer a DVDO Edge scaler with 4x SPDIF output?

This scaler features world class video processing of 6 HDMI 1.3 inputs and has 2 HDMI outputs, one for video/audio and one dedicated for audio, the dedicated audio output has a dummy video signal that doesn't care what or if anything is connected, what this means is that the PCM data is flowing no matter what is connected to the HDMI output including nothing connected at all

Why mod sources when you can feed 6 HDMI signals into this scaler, get amazing video processing including HDMI capability and have your 4x SPDIF PCM output?

connect a Blu-Ray player, a HD-DVD player, Xbox, satellite receiver, DVD player, SACD, D-VHS, whatever, as long as the source has internal decoding and can output 8 ch PCM via HDMI it will be sent out of the Edge scaler via the mod, no need to mod sources

to top it off all this for under 1200$

would you consider doing anything for the lumagen range - their VP is far superior to the dvdo?

or, perhaps, a modification of the Crystalio VPS II 3300 for similar reasons?

the main idea behind the Edge unit was so that one could add HDMI and video processing on the side(sort of a bonus), in addition to this capability for a great price, also the way the Edge functions you don't need the HDMI output to be connected for the PCM data to flow from the inputs to the 4x SPDIF

perfect HDMI add-on solution for Meridian owners with better functionality

the Edge is a heck of a video processor for 799$ MSRP, it uses the same processing chip as the VP50pro

those scalers will be looked into for sure, but they may not work

Hey Custom,
As somebody that put a lot of time and energy into getting the octava 3x SPDIF going without success I would be very interested in a turn key solution that is less expensive than a HD621.

the Edge modified comes much cheaper than the HD621 and includes a nice video scaler on the side , 3K vs 1099$(on 10+ powerbuy for you guys)

Edge has IR inputs on the rear and is 100-240v capable as well, but no rack mount option, I could maybe work on that for those that need it, additional RJ45 output would probably not be possible

I can also do a clock upgrade on the Edge for those demanding users(which the HD621 is doing), that will help the PCM signals a bit reducing jitter, roughly 200$ for that give or take for those that are wanting prices
