Hello,
I've recently upgraded from a 5 X DSP5K (96/24)to replace the fronts with the DSP5.5k's (96/24). I have these hooked up to a G68 processor and G98 DVD player.

Everything was working fine with the old DSP5k's, but with the 5.5k's I hear loud static for an instant when loading and ejecting CD's or DVD's.

What should I do to fix this? Hopefully it's not bad for the speakers?
Many thanks!

I have found that the "click" is caused by the DSP changing in the G68 when you take the disc out of the G98. I have not found any way of stopping it but, as I have analogue speakers, turning the volume down is the only way.

What firmware was in the 5K vs 5.5K?

Is firmware in g68/g98 up to date?

I have loaded the latest firmware on the G98, G68 and have just flashed the latest firmware on the 5.5k's. The clicking is still there with some CD/DVD's.
Thanks.

Similar problem when changing tracks on a CD, found it was because of a badly soldered comms cable.
Hope this helps.

Dit you try swapping the speakers or the cable ?
Does it help when you press mute or turn down the volume before you eject a CD?
If the noise is loud or very high it could damage your speaker.Try to retype your speaker/controller.
Are the 5.5k smileys or original(not upgradet ) MKII ?
