With everything moving towards some form of IP control via Speakerlink, perhaps the following might be of interest... for those who aren't interested in the rather large tablet or desktop monitor from Sooloos.

Is speakerlink IP? Or simply existing comms via cat5?

Ian:

It's not IP based.

JK, then aside from ease of installation, why bother? I would have thought IP based control would have been an obvious benefit to be had?

Chris:

Because you get the benefits of a balanced digital connection + Serial + Comms (and maybe IR) all on one wire.

There's this thought process that Cat5(5e/6/6a/7) == Ethernet/IP. That's not the case. It's certainly the biggest usage, though not the only usage.

I use Cat5 extenders for HDMI and analog audio and both work superbly.
