thankx Peter - looking forward to 563 - a question for forum - the back of the 563 says a "XXXX fuse" for 220v operation and "XXXX fuse" for 120v operation - does this mean it will allow different voltage by changing the fuse? thanks, thymanst

No. But it may have a switching power supply (I have no idea) that handles both but you need to confirm if it does or not before trying voltage it's not setup for.

I think only the 596 and 598 of the 500 series had universla supplies. The rest typically just need to move a couple of wires on the transformer taps.

I found a site that has internal shots of most of the Meridian gear(Duncans site) - Meridian-audio.info - It shows the internals of the 563 and the power supply is way over by it self and I can clearly see taps on it - is this do-able for me?(i have rudimentary soldering ability) I'll order a step up transformer if its difficult/confusing - thanks for info....

Now that you mention that I think the procedure has been mentioned before on 500 series. Try some searches on the forum.

My recollection is similar to George's. I think last year, or the year before, someone posted that they contacted the service guys at Meridian and they told them what taps to change (as you may need to bridge one, or remove a bridge too).

Saw it - the DAC will be here friday and I'll take a look inside and see if I want to try it - thanks for the help - a 500 watt transformer is only about $25 if a decide not to do it.....
