I'm running a 568 with 6000's front left and right and 5000's center and rear. The 5000c is set to master.
When adjusting the volume the 568 adjusts faster that the speakers. The speakers, while out of agreement with the 568, are in sync with one another. This become a problem because I'm running an analog sub so sometimes the sub volume is much higher than the speakers (since the sub is controlled by the 568).
I can re-sync everything by restarting the 568 and the 5000c; however, as soon as I start to adjust the volume everything goes out of wack, again.
I should note that the speakers do adjust to volume changes - just not as fast as the 568.
Any ideas???
Thanks!!!

Is there a Meridian DVD player in the mix?
While everything is in standby, press clear on the MSR. The master speaker should flash non-controller (or something close that will fit on the small display) and the 568 should flash controller. If this is not the case, you might not be wired up correctly.
After pressing clear, turn everything on and try the volume control again.

I've experienced this in the past when the system 'forgets' who the controller is. As far as I know, the 568 must be controller and rather than set the others to auto (thus letting them fight it out in the comms trail), I set all the others to non-controller specifically. I seem to remember Des telling me to also run the volume control all the way down to zero so that zero registered on each item. As noted above, pressing clear on the MSR is also designed to re-set the controls. When my 596 went mad with 1.21 recently, it meant that both 596 and 568 were fighting for control. The first I saw of this was the very erratic volume behaviour as both units were picking up the IR. Rgds NickL

I had a similar problem with my 565/506.20. I'd press next track and it would "press" it twice.
The problem was that my home made comms cable (I needed a 3m length) was not plugged into the 506.20 fully! Making sure it was home solved the problem

i've had this happen lots of times! some thoughts.
(a) while the I/O of the comms cables on the componentsare not specific (plug a comms cable into any available port); the connections on the speakers are clearly labelled IN and OUT. i've screwed this one up before.
(b) i will beg to differ with a prior poster re: controller. you don't need to have 568 controller in your setup.
your problem is generally a controller problem. i have found that you CANNOT use the auto-setup stuffs the minute you insert any sort of complexity into the system (esp. DSP speakers). when i have to do a full setup, i do it by hand speaker by speaker and via the software. the auto-setup thing assumes ultra-simplistic configurations IMO.
good luck.

Thanks to all for your help--
Stacy's suggestion to do the "clear" reset took care of the problem.
I recently disassembled the system to paint the room. I was pretty careful with the rewiring so I didn't think that was the problem, but the complete powerdown must have confused something.
In any case, all is well now.
Thanks!!
