have a set of Rosewood M20's that I purchased new and cosmetically they are very good, but after 20 years, moving and life, they are not perfect. Believe me,they still make fantastic computer speakers, but one has a poor RCA connection. One stand was bad out of the box and I didn't have the heart to do anything about it and there may be a driver or two not 100%, but I have new tweeters and have to wonder if one would make a good center channel on its side. Combining the best parts to make one if nessesary.

Rollmo, I dont see a problem as long as you know they may not be magneticly shielded.
Well worth a try as a stop gap at least.

No reason not to: 1) if you willingly accept that a horizontally oriented MTM center is a major compromise and 2) if as Chris states above, you do not use a CRT based display immediately above it. In our "living area" system I use an uncomprimised vertically oriented M2 as a center with a pair of M100s as mains and another pair of M2s as surrounds. The combo works great. Not too surprising though. All the speakers are MTM designs, all speakers use the same Kef B110 mid-bass drivers, and although the tweeters are different, Kef T33 and T52, they are all from the same manufacturer. The resulting similarity in the old M active's voicing creates a seamless surround sound-field. I do have all the M2s on 4 pillar current-day stands though- 20" for the center and 24" for the surrounds. The original angled low stands don't lend themselves well to surround usage.
