Hi all,
Now that I've moved to DSP5K's across the front, its time to part with my beloved Meridian 558, 5x200W amp. Specs available on Meridian's website.
I'm the original owner, purchased in Feb, 2001. Amp is powerful, clean and quiet. Never a moment of ground-hum or buzz from any speaker attached.
As much power as is packed into the amp, it does run hot and needs plenty of airspace, else the thermal protection will engage. I never had much luck using this amp in an enclosed cabinet without also using a fan to keep air moving.
Also, this amp is *heavy*, weighing in at a whopping 115 lbs! I have the original box, which is itself quite heavy with the very dense foam packing. I'd imagine total shipping weight will end up between 130-140lbs.
Cosmeticaly, the amp is in good shape, but there is a small amount of paint flaking on a couple of the air vents on top.
I'm pretty sure I still have the original jumper bars used when bridging channels (the amp can run in a 3-channel mode with channels 1+2 and 4+5 bridged).
Looking for $3000 + shipping.
