I am currently laying on my bed at silly o'clock in the morning listening to my 'cool' iTunes playlist going into my F80. Now it is the first time I have done this and pushed the volume to 70 but iam having, what can only be described as, a magical music experience!!! :-)
The thing is, my main system just isn't the same when it comes music, not like this. It's fab for movies (my first love), but it doesn't compare to the sonic experience iam engaged in right now.
So my question is; Am I wrong to be enjoying music on my F80 more than my main system??? ( I know it's got to do with the acoustics in my bedroom, surely?)
I am off as The Beta Band just come on in the mix!

I think you just need to move your bed into your main listening room!

Years ago I remember reading that Hi-fi tended to sound better after everyone else had gone to bed. The theory was that the mains electric was a lot cleaner and more stable early in the morning when the load on the grid wasn't being constantly altered by people switching stuff on or off.
I had also heard that a humans hearing is "better" at night. The theory behind this is that we have evolved over millions of years to hear better at night when our sight is limited, those that heard better didn't get eaten by something.
This could be what you are hearing or it could be total BS, not sure which personally.

I have noticed that when my F80 gets to around 74 on the volume, it seems to kick into another level of enjoyment (much to my so called deaf neighbours annoyance so I can't do it often). Maybe you have just hit that level.

Maybe M are right ? You're 'listening' and not just 'hearing' ? Sometimes you can try to listen to a main system during the day and traffic ( human , canine and vehicular ) can be very distracting and this combined with a cleaner power supply at that time of night gives a more involving experience . I tend to run MRC late at night for this reason and also because I have a 'Psycho Lathe-Wielding Monster' living at the back of me ~M~
Mostly harmless. Comfortably numb.

This all sounds very logical. At night you can block of your primary sense (sight) and appreciate the sonic experience without distraction... Though, it still sounds great right now at 12:41pm....

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the F80, BUT I would have to say that if your F80 is outperforming your Main G91 / D5k System, then you should check the settings on your Main system Processor and Speakers The F80 produces a very nice sound given its size but it does not and should not outperform a Main system of that calibre Sorry but it just had to be said

Out of paranoia I went through a full spring clean of my main system... Needed to update the firmware on the 5ks and config'd everything on the PC. There were a lot of conflicting settings so I cleaned it all up. It definitely sounds 100% tighter than before! Woohoooo!
