Not necessarily George. Until someone bids you don't know if there is a reserve on the auction. In light of his Buy-it-now price, I'd be surprized if there wasn't a pretty high reserve.

Happy Trails!

Well provided that your listening space was large enough to accommodate the DSP8ks, I'd no doubt go for the flagship speaker. The big room is pretty essential though.

Happy Trails!

I think it's a fair bet that the 8000's DSP will be upgraded at some point so it will get the new apodizing filter that is present in the 7200s.

I've recently faced that decision and even though I was very impressed with the DSP7200 when I heard them in Bristol I went for the second hand 8ks. Although they don't have the "latest" features of the 7200s they do have great sound and will go lower. Also with "just" 800 and 861 I don't have anyway to benefit from cat5 speakerlink yet.

If you've got the space (or even if you haven't and you like bass laugh ) go for the 8ks.

regards

Chris

This Pair of Speakers currently sells new $59.995.00 and is offered with No Reserve so someone will be getting a fantastic bargain.

His "starting bid" is his reserve. That is what I do and I think it a smart way to do it. Hidden reserves just piss people off.

Well, as we could see in the auction where he bought them he got them form $17,400 after there were 52 bids. No-one else was willing to go higher then.

Interesting though, he copied the exact same text from the auction where he bought them - including the "Also please note I know a Meridian dealer so I can get you support beyond that of an individual seller." text...

Hello all,

Something fishy here?

I contacted him regarding availability. He said yes and they were packed and ready to be shipped. Appeared to be a good price etc. I asked for serial numbers which have yet to be provided.

In my search for the flagship 8000s, I came across two other websites that seem to show the same room in the photos as the e-bay ad.

The eBay ad says the location is somewhere in Oregon, USA. The email respondant is Alex M. Shrage.

The second website is Hallolondon.co.uk and would appear to have the same wording as the eBay ad. Can you believe 2000 pound price? Poster is Shern Clopton.

The third website is mercadosite.com and shows a location in Spain, same room but with Ferrari yellow 8000s at 2900 Euros. Poster is Stanley David.

How do we verify legitimacy?

Jeff
