Is there anyway to increase the sensitivity of the 5.1 analog inputs? I was trying to do A/B compariaon between DTS-HDMA from the analog and DTS from the coaxial from my new Panny BD player but the difference in loudness is significant.

There should be a sensitivity option for the input -- hidden away in MConfig. I actually have to download it to this machine to check for it. I'll post back once I have it installed.

Yep, after you've set up the source, right click on the card and you can find the source(s) you've set up for that input. One of the options for that input is sensitivity.
Default is 2.0v -- I would work down one setting at a time from there. What that does is set the voltage required for 0dB FS (ie a full scale signal input).

Does that mean you are setting the "gain" in other words or am I missing something
My Canal+ source has a much stronger signal/dbs than the Sky source. So when you switch between satellites the canal+ is much louder.
Is this what i should do decrease the default from 2.0 ?
thanks

You can set gain/sensitivity for analogue sources in the G6x and 861, but not digital ones. This has annoyed me for a long time.

It annoys me that TV broadcasters run their adverts often significantly higher than the main programming. I've not got the SPL meter out to it, but, it's easily 5-10 clicks on the M scale on some channels.

Somebody mentioned to me the other day that the UK govt is to finally legislate against this sort of behaviour. I didn't verify the source so cannot say whether this information is true. Mark

They also compress the bejesus out of the dynamic range which also makes it seem louder.

Yes, The incredibly annoying volume increase which accompanies TV adverts these days rather reminds me of equally annoying fellow "overseas tourists" attempting to communicate with the locals in far-off lands- The local doesn't speak or understand the one word of the English language of course. Perhaps if the tourist just SPEAKS MUCH LOUDER they'll be understood. I'm embarassed to share a continent with such folk! Happy Trails! Vince@Freewheelcycle.com

is it just me or does the picture on adverts look a hell of a lot better than most of the programmes on sky.

[cynic]Commercial TV is all about the adverts. Make the programmes as cheap as possible to get the audiences and attract advertising revenue...[/cynic]
