Hi, what's a fair price for a "partly" 96Khz used 861 these days ?

Regards,
Andreas

andreas - i've been watching them for a while on audiogon, eBay, and the like.

$7,500 for a not-overly-equipped unit seems to be de riguer. i've seen some minimalist units go for 6,500. loaded-up stuff goes for 9,000 or better.

the problem with used units is that i've never seen one that was just what i needed. in all cases it was going to cost me an extra few grand to get the right cards into it - and at that point it's kinda pointless to not buy new.

hopefully some useful, anecdotal data.

i'm trying to weasel a deal on a new one so i can avoid the upgrade process and order it setup the way i need (DSP speakers only; the 8 Svid card; tape loop card; etc.

i've been really holding back though until the room correction card becomes real. i've asked dealers, i've asked distributors, and i've asked Meridian - NOBODY dares answer. Meridian just ignores the question, which is a bummer.

sab

I would not hold out enjoying the 861 while you wait for the room correction card. I need it too, but that does not stop me from enjoying the sound.

Hi Doody,

seriously consider selling mine. 6500$ however is quite tough, considering the units current "empty price" of 19600.- DM or ca. 10.000.- Euro. As my unit is empty still up to date and considering the cards I have, although just one is 96Khz out, but not in, I would find 6.500$ a little too little...

Oh wow.....

STACEY: i agree. if i can finagle the creative deal i'm trying to do i'm almost certainly going to buy a new one (v3) and put my 568/562V.2 on the market.

ANDREAS: that's just my observations. i've bid on a few in the 7K space. i've seen dealer demos at 10K that were overpriced IMO. nobody's getting top dollar for them used given that the upgrade is coming.

Anyone interested ?

Cheers,
Andreas

Someone i know is getting a demo modell offered. New unit with 2 OA02's IA00 and a video card. Asing price 9500 euro.

I suspect this one is going for dealer cost price. Will be sold as a new unit with full warranty of 3 years in the netherlands.

Advised that person to bidd lower if he is interested in releation with the coming upgrades. I suspect this dealer wants to have a new 861v3 must choose between sell off his 'old' 861 or upgrade it.
Either they want to have a v3 now or it is cheaper for them.

Just to make this complete. I will edit the exact type names of the cards later on when I'm at home.

861
1x analog input card (IA00)
2x analog out RCA 20Bit (OA00)
2x analog out XLR (1x OA12 (24/96), 1x OA10)
1x digital out for DSP speakers (OD10)
1x slave patch for DSP speakers
Remote

As it looks older cards can still be used (4 cards = 16 channels, if a mix will be possible with V3) and a new DSP card "might" be all one needs then.

I also have a bunch of new spare "rear covers" (different sizes) and screws to configure like you want.

Reason for offer : "mood", will buy nothing new ! Won't sell for under 15000.- DM, 7670 Euro or 6670$, otherwise I simply keep it.

Sorry, to bother again.

For ca. 1000 $ or 1000 Euro extra on top I throw in my studio monitors from Behringer, 7 units to be exact (1700 Euro new, used to be even 2500 Euro new for 7 units) with 7 stands and XLR cables from Belden on Neutrik plugs (7x10 meters). So you can enjoy full XLR connections. These speakers are active speakers and seriously won't need a subwoofer, unless you need that Velodyne/Black Hole Sub touch....

Have fun.

Andreas
