Just listened to the Queen Live Aid performance in Montreal -their "Night at the Opera" on blu-ray is terrific! Freddie Mercury looks the same as he did 25 years ago and sounds better on Blu-Ray in DTS HD 96/24 on a 7.1 Meridian kit connected directly to the 96/24 speakers (2X 5.5k + 5k center + 2X 5k rears + 2X DSP33 sides) by the modded Oppo. Cheers, Gautam

I haven't seen it, but following a recommendation for "3:10 to Yuma" on Bluray - as one of the few 7.1 titles - I discovered it is currently only UKP6.98 at Amazon.co.uk right now, if anyone is interested in picking it up. (72% off!)

I thought there was a link here to a website which listed all Blurays with their audio formats/codecs. But I can't find it now. Can someone remember what I am on about?...

CinemaSquid has by far the most detail on each Bluray release. For example, Click the link below, which lists the Discs by Descending Order for Audio Bit Rate. CinemaSquid Listing - Bluray Discs by Audio Bitrate Click on any of the Headings to Order or Re-Order each Heading or Criteria If you click on any one Disc, that will give you a VAST amount of Test Data about that Disc (click on the "Specifications" tab for that disc, which is about half way down the screen. Headings include Video Bitrate average and in a Timeline Graph Audio Bitrate average and Graphical format Lots of other details included as well The website also includes about Ten External Reviews per Disc and then assigns a Rating out of 100 for each review. Overall, I find it's one very good central portal of information about any one disc or the market in general

Both are useful.
You always like to make it sound like my suggestion is of lesser value.
I like the filters, sorting, charts on the stats etc.
Ton more movies too.
Personally I think the bitrate charts are totally useless.

You always like to make it sound like my suggestion is of lesser value I certainly apologize as it is was not my intention I made the common mistake (which I usually try and avoid) of entering text into the Open Box on the Thread screen rather than doing what I usually do, which is to hit the "Reply" button to the person I was responding to. In this case, I was responding to Marbach's original question All I was saying is that CinemaSquid had a lot of useful information on Bit Depths and Bit Rates than I hadn't seen anywhere else. I've also found it very useful to pinpoint the version worth buying. For example, the European version of "Shawshank Redemption" does not have a lossless soundtrack, whereas the US one does. Likewise, some of the Euro discs will have 7.1 DTS-MA 24/48 High Bit Rate Tracks, whereas the US one will only have a 5.1 TrueHD 16/48 Lower Bit Rate one. And these type of discrepancies happen a lot more than we think. I think this site does the best job of centralizing that data. You can enter e.g. "Apocalypto" and see which disc from which Region has the best Picture and Audio quality I've also found it useful as a central location for Reviews to help identify whether the disc is worth investigating or not As for the Bitrate Charts, I have found them useful for pinpointing which Scene in the movie has the highest bit rate. This in turn can be a good test of how well your equipment can cope with that. You would have to take a cross section of scenes though

We watched the BD release of 10 Things I Hate About You the other night and although the video quality is just ok, the moment the first few notes of Joan Armatrading's "Weakness in me" played I had chills. I love that song anyway, and can't wait for the new master of Walk Under Ladders in two weeks time, but the presentation of it by the DSP speakers was emotional. I've not gone back to critically listen to it, to check that I wasn't just in the moment with the song, but having your system just create that moment is what it's truly about
