When I changed from single ended to balanced into a 557 amp I thought the difference was noticeable straight away. I was quite surprised as I expected no change whatsoever. No scientific tests or anything though....

thx for the links.

as i said back then:
what i see in 588 is those green capacitors on the analog board - they're too high for the video board to be placed above them.
also in the PSU i see one more capacitor in 596.

so they can't be identical as Meridian said.........

Too high for the video card?
Did you open the two boxes and measured the height of the capacitors?

And obviously when M says these are identical they are lying through their teeth (as always) and/or do not know their own products... shocked
Your tenacity is quite amazing and to be honest you are tiring me with your out to lunch arguments but you know what, The 588 kicks the 596's butt and people should pay $1800-1,900 for a 588 instead of around $1,000 for a 596 in the second hand market so they can get a much better sound (and XLRs too)...

Sometimes ignorance is a bliss.
