For an 861 in Mconfig I'd like to create a new preset for MusicLogic with lighter steering... but when I right click on any of the presets in the left pane (of the DSP presets page)that lists the presets I'm only presented with one of the two options ("revert to defaults" option)and can't activate the "copy" option.
How to copy?

bruce,
right click on the DSP preset and select 'Copy to New Preset' and then name your new preset and make your adjustments.
If you do this with 'Musiclogic' you will get a new DSP called 'MusicLogic2'
Mike
PS. make sure you've got the latest software version:- Configuration Program 3.5.0.2978

also note - the config program seems to display an incorrect version number like 3.05; Look for the build number - 2978 is latest...

I do have the latest build.
When I right click on any preset I do not get the option to "Copy to New Preset" ... that option is "light gray" and can't be clicked on.

bruce,
I've had a couple of problems with my .MSL files in the past.
If you've created your .MSL file with an earlier version of M.Config can cause problems when opened with later versions, I`ve been advised to create a new .MSL file on two previous occasions by Meridian and this as always fixed the problem.
Seems like a drastic solution to the problem but sometimes it as to be done.

Average MPH ...
I suspected as much.
What's the basic procedure for a fresh from scratch build? Do I do some sort of front panel hard reset and then "fetch" to get card information, or, do I hand enter each card/product into Mconfig,or ???
Thanks.

Bruce,
You will need to Re-Type your 861 from the front panel and then do a fetch, unless you have the original fetch from when you first had the machine.
How to 'Re-Type':-
Power the unit down with the switch on the back, whilst continually depressing the OFF button on the front panel power the unit up, wait for the 861 to boot up and after a few seconds you should get the message ‘Typing please wait` when you see this message release the OFF button on the front panel.
By using the Volume Up/Keys keys select 'Type 1' you should then see the message ‘Typing please wait` and then the message ‘Type 1` now press the OFF button once on the front panel, you will then get the message ‘Exiting Type`
Now do a fetch from the 861 and add your other equipment Etc.
Bruce, you could send me your .MSL file for me to take a look before you 'Re-Type' mp.healey@ntlworld.com
