Hi,

Is anyone using any of the above subwoofers?
My space is limited and I live in a flat, hence why I am focusing on small subwoofer?

Any experiences with either model?

Thanks,
Panos

I have a PV-1 and am very pleased with my purchasing decision. I originally auditioned it partnered with a G95.

My requirement was for a sub with 'musicality' rather than deep-down, earth shaking 'grunt'. What I mean by this is that music is admirably, seamlessly and convincingly underpinned rather than the sub being the centre of attention - but that's not to say that the PV-1 doesn't go down really low (21Hz). For added effect, the PV-1 can be easily daisy chained.

For someone such as yourself, living in a flat, no vibration can be felt when touching the PV-1. The idea being that the sub will not communicate its presence via the floor to your neighbours. Moreover, for me, its aesthetic presence is something that can be showed-off in the living room rather than being something to be embarrassed about.

Although I'm currently utilising a stop-gap Yamaha solution at present (the G95 was a tipping point away from Meridian) until Meridian deliver something like a G71 (a G95 done right), I will continue to use my PV-1 alongside my Mission E81's in the longer term.

Might look great if you live in a space ship !

I have a SVS PB12 Plus/2 and I love it. It does very well blended with my Aerials for music.

For theater... well lets just say that I hope you (and your structure) are prepared for what it can do. smile

George,

You're right; beauty really is in the eye of the beholder - it's one of those items that looks better 'in the flesh'. My PV-1 is in polished black, and really looks - and sounds - the business.

If you had a modern aesthetic the silver would look fantastic. Black could probably mix anywhere. I always thought it was a nice looking sub so beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

None of the SVS demos I've been to has made me even consider using a SVS sub for music. Of the two I would take the B&W, but I myself chose a Velodyne DD-12.

Thank you for your replies...Yes music is my first priority with home theatre being second. I also enjoy listening to surround music (as well as music DVDs) too. I do not want to shake my flat nor the neighboors but If I can get something better for the money then I am all ears (better being, more musical, faster and tight)

Hi
I agree with Tommypeters that the BIG SVS are not so great with music - however the smaller and sealed box SB12 is really great with music!
It's faster and tighter than the bigger brothers, but it does not go as deep. I am using a SB12 together with my 5k's and are relay satisfied with it.

I also have the PV-1. It's very musical and blends well with the M33's. As far as theatre duties, it is just OK. I too am in a condo and the neighbor's bedroom is immediately below the media area, so earth shaking bass was not what I was seeking. As spinaltap mentioned, there is no vibration at all that is transmitted thru the floor.

Mine is in silver (in a contemporary setting) and looks very cool. WAF is high.
